Overcome Notification Overwhelm
In your last lesson, I showed you a quick overview of Stacked Notifications for your iPhone & iPad.

But, let’s face it…

You’re probably bombarded with too much information coming at you all day.

Am I right?

Do you really need your iPhone or iPad constantly beeping at you with random notifications from all of your apps?

In this lesson, I’ll show you how to beat Notification Overwhelm Syndrome.

So you can use Stacked Notifications as your secret weapon.

To finally take total control of the information that’s most important to you in your life.
STEP 1: Purge Notifications
Step one to beating Notification Overwhelm Syndrome is to Purge your unwanted notifications.

Whenever you find that you have a whole group of notifications that you no longer need...

You can quickly get rid of them all at once by simply swiping left on a Stack of Notifications...
Then tap “Clear All”
This is much quicker and easier than having to delete each individual notification separately.

Like in them olden days.
STEP 2: Manage Notifications
If you ever find yourself getting too many notifications from one specific App.

Swipe down from the top to Open Notification Center…
Then Swipe left on the Notification Stack for that App…
And Tap “Manage"
Then Tap “Turn Off” to stop getting any Notifications from that App.
Or…

You can Tap “Deliver Quietly” then all notifications from this app will still appear in your Notification Center.
But, they won’t appear on your Lock Screen, or as banners on the top of your screen.

Plus it won’t make any alert sounds.

This is a great option for Apps that deliver less-urgent notifications.

Like maybe News Story Notifications that you may want to read while you’re bored online at the grocery store…

But you don’t need constantly interrupting you during your day.
STEP 3: Customize Notifications
If you want to further customize and control how each app delivers notifications…

Swipe left again on a stack of notifications.
Tap Manage
Then tap Settings.
Here you can decide if you want alerts for the notifications to appear on your Lock Screen...
In your Notification Center...
Or as a banner on the top of your screen.
You can also control whether you want a banner to disappear right away.

Or wait for you to close the banner.
You can control if you want a sound to play every time this app sends you a notification.
And if you want a red badge to appear on the app icon on your home screen, showing you how many notifications the app currently has.
STEP 4: Group Notifications
Another option in your Settings is called, “Notification Grouping”.

This controls how your Notification Stacks get grouped.

Tap on “Notification Grouping”...
Then you can choose to automatically group notifications as Apple feels is best for each app.
But, if you don’t want all of your different Message threads and Email Notifications to be grouped separately, based on conversation topic.

Then you may want to choose “By App”.
So then all the Message App Notifications will be stacked together and not grouped in conversation stacks.

Or, if you don’t want any notifications at all from this app, tap “Off”
Keep in mind this is your personal preference setting for each app, it’s not a global setting.
Review
I know we went deep and got pretty technical with some of the settings for Stacked Notifications in this lesson.

And…

You may never need, or want, to change any of the default settings for your iPhone or iPad Notifications.

But, if you ever feel you’re getting overwhelmed with too much information…

Just follow these 4 steps to re-gain control of the notifications that are most important to you
to make the most of your busy day.

The four steps again are…

1) Purge Notifications
2) Manage Notifications
3) Customize Notifications
4) Group Notifications
